Prototype your way forward

Create a Minimum Viable Workshop in 6 weeks

For the past 10 years, as a co-founder of Amity, I’ve been working with groups and creating programmes and workshops. Along the way, I’ve encountered brilliant peers and colleagues in the transformation arena who wanted to make a difference and work with groups. However, when I bumped into them months or years later, they still hadn’t taken the opportunity to do so. They often told me they didn’t know where to start when it came to creating a workshop or programme, or they doubted they had the necessary skills or experience.

For some time now, I’ve been fascinated by what sets apart practitioners who are making an impact and doing what they love from those who are still dreaming about it. What I’ve found is that the “impactful” practitioners aren’t necessarily more skilled than the “dreamers”, they simply take action and experiment their way forward. By doing so, they not only receive feedback from potential clients and improve their services, but they also become better at their craft and create momentum. They’re in the game, playing, instead of thinking about it.

And this is what prototypes are all about. For me, prototypes are experiments that make our ideas tangible. They move concepts from our heads into the world, where others can react to them. Prototypes help probe the unknown, they’re created to explore, investigate, or understand something unfamiliar or not yet fully understood

I love prototypes and experimenting, and I’m truly excited about this experiment I’m calling PROTOTYPE YOUR WAY FORWARD. It combines two of my passions: supporting people in making a difference and living from their hearts, and workshop design and facilitation.

PROTOTYPE YOUR WAY FORWARD is a 6-week container for wayshowers to design and test a Minimum Viable Workshop, propelling them forward toward making the contribution they dream of.

A 6-week container to design and test a Minimum Viable Workshop.

Here is what we’re going to focus on in an experiential way:

FOCUS #1: Key Facilitation and Workshop Design Mindsets and Distinctions: We’ll explore the foundational mindsets and distinctions necessary to create impactful experiences.

FOCUS #2: The Magic of a Blank Page: We’ll tap into the unknown for inspiration and gain insights into the people we’re going to serve with our workshop.

FOCUS #3: Workshop Design Framework: You’ll understand and play with the building blocks of an effective workshop.

FOCUS #4: Making the Intangible Tangible: You’ll have the opportunity to receive feedback from others on your workshop design.

FOCUS #5: Getting Ready to Launch: You’ll leave with a plan to test your workshop with clients.

What People Are Saying

I highly recommend Maria's program if you would like to bring an idea for a program to reality. Maria shares an effective framework to help you stand in the shoes of your audience, to consider their world, and their needs, and that very much reinforces the value of the idea you have. It's also helpful to be in a community with other like minded people who want to share the 3P understanding with the world.

If you want to move into action, this is the program for you.”

“Taking part in the PYWF was a no brainer for me when I saw it on Facebook. The blurb just felt right and I went with that feeling. I'm so glad that I did. I had the wonderful experience of working with Maria and her very down to earth, playful yet professional style. I am so happy to be finishing this course richer for having now created a course that I am ready to promote and even more so with a group of peers with whom we've made positive and lasting relationships to keep the journey alive. Gracias for creating this Maria.”

  • The reason for prototyping is experimentation—the act of creating forces you to ask questions and make choices. It also gives you something you can show and talk about with other people. A prototype is an embodiment of your idea.

  • Prototypes slow us down to speed us up. By taking the time to prototype our ideas, we avoid costly mistakes such as becoming too complex too early and sticking with a weak idea for too long.
